With over 60,000 entries for the highly competitive Nikon Photo Contest International 2010 – 2011, photographer Martin Stranka has won the Emerging Talent Award for his image, “Close.”  First held in 1969, this annual contest has the highest number of entries in the history of the contest, and is the world’s largest photo contest of its kind.  Entries came from all parts of the world from about 153 regions and countries.

“One of the greatest success!  I have been chosen for the international world’s most prestigious photo contest as an Emerging Talent Award in the Nikon Photo Contest International 2010 – 2011.” says Martin Stranka.  Vincent Munier, one of the judges tells his thoughts about “Close.” “This picture tells a tale. It transports us into another world which is magical and legendary. The light is mysterious as we can’t tell where the source is, and the fog and leaves have the potential to illicit different interpretations. The pine tree in the fog creates a mystical aura that I appreciate and the compositionof the image is amazing.”

The winning images have appeared in the following exibitions:

Tokyo: Wednesday, August 31 – Tuesday, September 13 at Ginza Nikon Salon
Osaka: Thursday, October 6 – Wednesday, October 19 at Osaka Nikon Salon
London: Monday, September 12 – Saturday, October 8 at Getty Images Gallery
